This is a rabbit polyclonal antibody against COG2. It was validated on Western Blot using a cell lysate as a positive control.

Target Description: Multiprotein complexes are key determinants of Golgi apparatus structure and its capacity for intracellular transport and glycoprotein modification. Several complexes have been identified, including the Golgi transport complex (GTC), the LDLC complex, which is involved in glycosylation reactions, and the SEC34 complex, which is involved in vesicular transport. These 3 complexes are identical and have been termed the conserved oligomeric Golgi (COG) complex, which includes COG2. NCBI Description

This gene encodes a subunit of the conserved oligomeric Golgi complex that is required for maintaining normal structure and activity of the Golgi complex. The encoded protein specifically interacts with the USO1 vesicle docking protein and may be necessary for normal Golgi ribbon formation and trafficking of Golgi enzymes. Mutations of this gene are associated with abnormal glycosylation within the Golgi apparatus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

Uniprot Description

COG2: Required for normal Golgi morphology and function. Belongs to the COG2 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q42.2

Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; Golgi stack; Golgi transport complex; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; protein complex binding; protein transporter activity

Biological Process: intracellular protein transport; intra-Golgi vesicle-mediated transport; oligosaccharide biosynthetic process; protein amino acid glycosylation; Golgi organization and biogenesis

Product Notes

The COG2 cog2 (Catalog #AAA3211880) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The COG2 antibody - N-terminal region reacts with Cow, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat, Zebrafish and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's COG2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COG2 cog2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: KRVQLEELRD DLELYYKLLK TAMVELINKD YADFVNLSTN LVGMDKALNQ. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "COG2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
