Recruited by REST to neuronal genes that contain RE-1 elements, leading to neuronal gene silencing in non-neuronal cells (By similarity). Preferentially catalyzes the dephosphorylation of 'Ser-5' within the tandem 7 residue repeats in the C-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest RNA polymerase II subunit POLR2A. Negatively regulates RNA polymerase II transcription, possibly by controlling the transition from initiation/capping to processive transcript elongation.

Uniprot Description

CTDSPL: Preferentially catalyzes the dephosphorylation of 'Ser- 5' within the tandem 7 residues repeats in the C-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest RNA polymerase II subunit POLR2A. Negatively regulates RNA polymerase II transcription, possibly by controlling the transition from initiation/capping to processive transcript elongation. Recruited by REST to neuronal genes that contain RE-1 elements, leading to neuronal gene silencing in non-neuronal cells. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.1.3.16; Phosphatase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p21.3

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: metal ion binding; phosphoprotein phosphatase activity

Biological Process: negative regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation; dephosphorylation

Product Notes

The CTDSPL ctdspl (Catalog #AAA3012518) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CTDSPL Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CTDSPL can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). WB: 1:500 FC/FACS: 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CTDSPL ctdspl for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CTDSPL, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
