Related Product Information for anti-CLDN7 antibody
The Claudin superfamily consists of many structurally related proteins in humans. These proteins are important structural and functional components of tight junctions in paracellular transport. Claudins are located in both epithelial and endothelial cells in all tight junction-bearing tissues. Three classes of proteins are known to localize to tight junctions, including the Claudins, Occludin and Junction adhesion molecule. Claudins, which consist of four transmembrane domains and two extracellular loops make up tight junction strands. Claudin expression is highly restricted to specfic regions of different tissues and may have an important role in transcellular transport through tight junctions. mRNA studies indicate that Claudin-7 is specifically expressed in mouse lung and kidney, but not in heart, brain, spleen, liver, skeletal muscle or testis.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the claudin family. Claudins are integral membrane proteins and components of tight junction strands. Tight junction strands serve as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, and also play critical roles in maintaining cell polarity and signal transductions. Differential expression of this gene has been observed in different types of malignancies, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, hepatocellular carcinomas, urinary tumors, prostate cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancers, thyroid carcinomas, etc.. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Uniprot Description

Claudin-7: Plays a major role in tight junction-specific obliteration of the intercellular space. Belongs to the claudin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell adhesion; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.1

Cellular Component: tight junction; basolateral plasma membrane; integral to membrane; lateral plasma membrane

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; structural molecule activity

Product Notes

The CLDN7 cldn7 (Catalog #AAA3008044) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Claudin 7 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Claudin 7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CLDN7 cldn7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Claudin 7, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
