Related Product Information for BNIP-2 blocking peptide
BNIP-2, (previously designated Nip2 and Nip21 in human and mouse respectively), shares homology with the non-catalytic domain of Cdc42 GTPase-activating protein (Cdc42GAP). Through binding to Cdc42GAP, BNIP-2 enhances the GTPase activity of Cdc42GAP, facilitating the hydrolysis of GTP bound to Cdc42 and thereby, mediating the signaling pathways involving receptor kinases, small GTPases and apoptotic proteins. Nix, which is also designated Nip3L or Bnip3L, is highly related to BNIP-3, and both proteins localize to the mitochondria where they associate with Bcl-2 proteins.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kd-interacting protein (BNIP) family. It interacts with the E1B 19 kDa protein, which protects cells from virally-induced cell death. The encoded protein also interacts with E1B 19 kDa-like sequences of BCL2, another apoptotic protector. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]

Uniprot Description

BNIP2: Implicated in the suppression of cell death. Interacts with the BCL-2 and adenovirus E1B 19 kDa proteins. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Apoptosis; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q22.2

Cellular Component: intracellular membrane-bound organelle; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; cytoplasm; nuclear envelope; cytosol

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; protein binding; calcium ion binding; GTPase activator activity

Biological Process: muscle cell differentiation; apoptosis; positive regulation of muscle cell differentiation; positive regulation of GTPase activity; negative regulation of apoptosis

Product Notes

The BNIP-2 bnip2 (Catalog #AAA3005712) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's BNIP-2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BNIP-2 bnip2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BNIP-2, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
