NCBI Description

This gene encodes a ryanodine receptor found in skeletal muscle. The encoded protein functions as a calcium release channel in the sarcoplasmic reticulum but also serves to connect the sarcoplasmic reticulum and transverse tubule. Mutations in this gene are associated with malignant hyperthermia susceptibility, central core disease, and minicore myopathy with external ophthalmoplegia. Alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Calcium channel that mediates the release of Ca2+ from the sarcoplasmic reticulum into the cytoplasm and thereby plays a key role in triggering muscle contraction following depolarization of T-tubules (PubMed:11741831, PubMed:16163667). Repeated very high-level exercise increases the open probability of the channel and leads to Ca2+ leaking into the cytoplasm (PubMed:18268335). Can also mediate the release of Ca2+ from intracellular stores in neurons, and may thereby promote prolonged Ca2+ signaling in the brain. Required for normal embryonic development of muscle fibers and skeletal muscle. Required for normal heart morphogenesis, skin development and ossification during embryogenesis ().

Product Notes

The RYR1 ryr1 (Catalog #AAA2889164) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Ryanodine receptor 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Affinity Purification (AP), Protein Array. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RYR1 ryr1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Ryanodine receptor 1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
