MFSD1, Belongs to the major facilitator superfamily. The major facilitator superfamily (MFS) is one of the two largest families of membrane transporters found on Earth. It is present ubiquitously in bacteria, archaea, and eukarya and includes members that can function by solute uniport, solute/cation symport, solute/cation antiport and/or solute/solute antiport with inwardly and/or outwardly directed polarity. Phylogenetic analyses revealed the occurrence of 17 distinct families within the MFS, each of which generally transports a single class of compounds. Compounds transported by MFS permeases include simple sugars, oligosaccharides, inositols, drugs, amino acids, nucleosides, organophosphate esters, Krebs cycle metabolites, and a large variety of organic and inorganic anions and cations.
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MFSD1 in samples. An antibody specific for MFSD1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMFSD1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MFSD1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MFSD1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
