Related Product Information for anti-VCP antibody
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of a family that includes putative ATP-binding proteins involved in vesicle transport and fusion, 26S proteasome function, and assembly of peroxisomes. This protein, as a structural protein, is associated with clathrin, and heat-shock protein Hsc70, to form a complex. It has been implicated in a number of cellular events that are regulated during mitosis, including homotypic membrane fusion, spindle pole body function, and ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the AAA ATPase family of proteins. The encoded protein plays a role in protein degradation, intracellular membrane fusion, DNA repair and replication, regulation of the cell cycle, and activation of the NF-kappa B pathway. This protein forms a homohexameric complex that interacts with a variety of cofactors and extracts ubiquitinated proteins from lipid membranes or protein complexes. Mutations in this gene cause IBMPFD (inclusion body myopathy with paget disease of bone and frontotemporal dementia), ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease in human patients. Uniprot Description

VCP: an ATPase enzyme present in all eukaryotes and archaebacteria that functions involved in vesicle transport and fusion, and 26S proteasomal degradation. Functions to extract protein molecules from large protein assemblies, membranes and chromatin, facilitating the proteasomal degradation of the extracted proteins by the proteasome. Involved in: the fragmentation of Golgi stacks during mitosis, and for their reassembly after mitosis; the formation of the transitional endoplasmic reticulum (tER); spindle disassembly at the end of mitosis; and the formation of a closed nuclear envelope. Involved in endoplasmic reticulum stress-induced preemptive quality control, a mechanism that selectively attenuates the translocation of newly synthesized proteins into the endoplasmic reticulum and reroutes them to the cytosol for proteasomal degradation. Regulates NFKappaB pathway, which is important for metastasis of osteosarcoma. Acts as a negative regulator of type I interferon production by interacting with DDX58: interaction takes place when DDX58 is ubiquitinated via 'Lys-63'-linked ubiquitin on its CARD domains, leading to recruit RNF125 and promote ubiquitination and degradation of DDX58. Tyrosine phosphorylation regulates its cell cycle-dependent nuclear localization.

Product Notes

The VCP vcp (Catalog #AAA2548831) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Phospho-VCP (Ser352) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VCP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 ELISA: 1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VCP vcp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VCP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
