NCBI Description

This gene is a type II classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily. The encoded membrane protein is a calcium dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. Type II (atypical) cadherins are defined based on their lack of a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence specific to type I cadherins. Cadherins mediate cell-cell binding in a homophilic manner, contributing to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types and the maintenance of orderly structures. Alternative splicing in the 5' UTR of this gene yields variant transcripts encoding the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CDH7: Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 18q22.1

Cellular Component: integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: calcium ion binding

Product Notes

The CDH7 cdh7 (Catalog #AAA248612) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit Polyclonal to Human CDH7 / Cadherin 7 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CDH7 / Cadherin 7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Flo (1:10 - 1:50), IHC-P (10 ug/ml), WB (1:1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDH7 cdh7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CDH7 / Cadherin 7, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
