Related Product Information for anti-SELPLG antibody
SELPLG is the high affinity counter-receptor for P-selectin on myeloid cells and stimulated T lymphocytes. As such, it plays a critical role in the tethering of these cells to activated platelets or endothelia expressing P-selectin. The organization of the SELPG gene closely resembles that of CD43 and the human platelet glycoprotein GpIb-alpha both of which have an intron in the 5-prime-noncoding region, a long second exon containing the complete coding region, and TATA-less promoters.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a glycoprotein that functions as a high affinity counter-receptor for the cell adhesion molecules P-, E- and L- selectin expressed on myeloid cells and stimulated T lymphocytes. As such, this protein plays a critical role in leukocyte trafficking during inflammation by tethering of leukocytes to activated platelets or endothelia expressing selectins. This protein requires two post-translational modifications, tyrosine sulfation and the addition of the sialyl Lewis x tetrasaccharide (sLex) to its O-linked glycans, for its high-affinity binding activity. Aberrant expression of this gene and polymorphisms in this gene are associated with defects in the innate and adaptive immune response. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2011]

Uniprot Description

SELPLG: A SLe(x)-type glycan, which through high affinity, calcium-dependent interactions with E-, P- and L-selectins, mediates rapid rolling of leukocytes over vascular surfaces during the initial steps in inflammation. PSGL1 is critical for the initial leukocyte capture.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q24

Cellular Component: membrane; integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; receptor binding

Biological Process: leukocyte tethering or rolling; cell adhesion; blood coagulation; leukocyte migration; leukocyte adhesive activation

Product Notes

The SELPLG selplg (Catalog #AAA245632) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse Monoclonal [clone TC2] (IgG1) to Human SELPLG / PSGL-1 / CD162 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SELPLG / PSGL-1 / CD162 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Flo (1.5 - 2.5 ug/ml), IHC-P (10 ug/ml) Usage: Flow Cytometry. Recommended dilution:1.5 - 2.5 ug/ml. Positive control:human peripheral blood. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SELPLG selplg for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SELPLG / PSGL-1 / CD162, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
