NCBI Description

The nuclear lamina consists of a two-dimensional matrix of proteins located next to the inner nuclear membrane. The lamin family of proteins make up the matrix and are highly conserved in evolution. During mitosis, the lamina matrix is reversibly disassembled as the lamin proteins are phosphorylated. Lamin proteins are thought to be involved in nuclear stability, chromatin structure and gene expression. Vertebrate lamins consist of two types, A and B. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Mutations in this gene lead to several diseases: Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy, familial partial lipodystrophy, limb girdle muscular dystrophy, dilated cardiomyopathy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, and Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome. Uniprot Description

lamin A/C: nuclear lamins are intermediate filament proteins that constitute the lattice-like matrix at the inner face of the nuclear membrane that underlies the nuclear envelop. The lamins, highly conserved throughout evolution, are encoded by three genes in the human: LMNA, LMNB1, and LMNB2. The A-type lamins (lamin A/C) are developmentally regulated and are generally expressed in differentiated cells. The anchoring of chromatin to the nuclear lamina is involved in the control of gene expression and in DNA replication and repair. During mitosis, the nuclear lamina is reversibly disassembled as the lamin proteins are phosphorylated. Cleaved by caspase-6 during apoptosis into a 40-45 kDa and a28 kDa fragment.

Product Notes

The LMNA lmna (Catalog #AAA245432) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse Monoclonal [clone JOL2] (IgG1) to Human LMNA / Lamin A/C reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LMNA / Lamin A/C can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Flo, IHC-P (1:100), IP (1:1), WB Usage: Immunohistochemistry: was validated for use in immunohistochemistry on a panel of 21 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human tissues after heat induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer. After incubation with the primary anti.. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LMNA lmna for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LMNA / Lamin A/C, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
