MGP; NTI; GIG36; MGLAP
Reactivity
Human
Synonyms
Matrix Gla Protein; Human Matrix Gla Protein ELISA Kit; MGP elisa kit
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Reactivity
Human
Specificity
No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human MGP and analogues was observed.
Samples
Serum, Plasma, Tissue Homogenate, Feces and Urine
Assay Type
Sandwich
Detection Range
6.25 ng/ml - 200 ng/ml.
Sensitivity
1.0 ng/ml.
Intended Uses
This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic applications! It is intended to be determinated MGP concentrations in Human serum, plasma and other body fluids. Using Purified Human MGP antibody to coat Microelisa Stripplate wells to make solid-phase antibody, then add MGP and MGP antibody which has been labeled with HRP to wells, then the reactants become antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, after washing completely, add TMB substrate solution, TMB substrate becomes blue color under HRP enzyme-catalyzed, reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of MGP in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
Intra-assay Precision
Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%.
Inter-assay Precision
Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean ×100]
Preparation and Storage
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is secreted and likely acts as an inhibitor of bone formation. The encoded protein is found in the organic matrix of bone and cartilage. Defects in this gene are a cause of Keutel syndrome (KS). Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Uniprot Description

MGP: Associates with the organic matrix of bone and cartilage. Thought to act as an inhibitor of bone formation. Defects in MGP are the cause of Keutel syndrome (KS). KS is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by abnormal cartilage calcification, peripheral pulmonary stenosis neural hearing loss and midfacial hypoplasia. Belongs to the osteocalcin/matrix Gla protein family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide; Extracellular matrix

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p12.3

Cellular Component: extracellular matrix; proteinaceous extracellular matrix

Molecular Function: protein binding; structural constituent of bone; extracellular matrix structural constituent; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: ossification; cell differentiation; regulation of bone mineralization; cartilage condensation

Disease: Keutel Syndrome

Product Notes

The Human MGP mgp (Catalog #AAA024150) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA024150 ELISA Kit recognizes Human MGP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Matrix Gla Protein, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
