NCBI Description

ESCO1 belongs to a conserved family of acetyltransferases involved in sister chromatid cohesion (Hou and Zou, 2005 [PubMed 15958495]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

ESCO1: Acetyltransferase required for the establishment of sister chromatid cohesion and couple the processes of cohesion and DNA replication to ensure that only sister chromatids become paired together. In contrast to the structural cohesins, the deposition and establishment factors are required only during S phase. Acts by mediating the acetylation of cohesin component SMC3. Belongs to the acetyltransferase family. GCN5 subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transferase; EC 2.3.1.-

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 18q11.2

Cellular Component: chromatin; nucleoplasm

Molecular Function: metal ion binding; transferase activity, transferring acyl groups

Biological Process: mitotic cell cycle; regulation of DNA replication; sister chromatid cohesion

Product Notes

The ESCO1 / ECO1 esco1 (Catalog #AAA2400081) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-ESCO1 / ECO1 Antibody (aa661-687) IHC-plus reacts with Mouse, Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ESCO1 / ECO1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). IHC-P (1:100) WB (1:1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ESCO1 / ECO1 esco1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ESCO1 / ECO1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
