Rabbit
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item detects vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), a member of the tyrosine kinase family that plays an essential role in transducing the major signals for angiogenesis. VEGFR2 has also been implicated in embryonic development, wound healing, cell proliferation, migration and differentiation.

VEGFR2 is expressed mostly on vascular endothelial cells, and is expressed on a subpopulation of haematopoietic cells which might be the progenitor for endothelial cells.

Mutated forms of VEGFR2 have been implicated in cancer and diabetic retinopathy, where it results in pathological angiogenesis.

NCBI Description

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a major growth factor for endothelial cells. This gene encodes one of the two receptors of the VEGF. This receptor, known as kinase insert domain receptor, is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase. It functions as the main mediator of VEGF-induced endothelial proliferation, survival, migration, tubular morphogenesis and sprouting. The signalling and trafficking of this receptor are regulated by multiple factors, including Rab GTPase, P2Y purine nucleotide receptor, integrin alphaVbeta3, T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase, etc.. Mutations of this gene are implicated in infantile capillary hemangiomas. [provided by RefSeq, May 2009]

Uniprot Description

VEGFR2: a receptor tyrosine kinase of the VEGFR family. High affinity receptor for VEGF and VEGF-C. Ligand binding induces autophosphorylation and activation. Activated receptor recruits proteins including Shc, GRB2, PI3K, Nck, SHP-1 and SHP-2. Plays a key role in vascular development and regulation of vascular permeability.

Product Notes

The VEGF kdr (Catalog #AAA222807) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's VEGF RECEPTOR 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Paraffin*. Immunohistology - Paraffin: Maximum Dilution: 10ug/ml; Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VEGF kdr for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VEGF RECEPTOR 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
