Reconstitution
Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile PBS Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. MyBioSource recommends that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For long term storage the addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended.
Buffer Solution
Ammonium bicarbonate
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to rat glycine receptor (NT) were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Rat
Preparation and Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at 4 degree C. After reconstitution store at -20 degree C. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 12 months from date of reconstitution.
Related Product Information for anti-Glra1 antibody
Rabbit anti glycine receptor recognises an epitope within the N-terminal region (NT) of glycine receptor alpha 1 and alpha 2 subunits. Glycine receptors are members of the ligand-gated ion channel superfamily, which mediate fast inhibitory neurotransmission. The receptors are pentameric membrane proteins which form chloride channels. Binding of glycine to its receptor produces an increase in chloride conductance and membrane hyperpolarisation. Four genes encoding glycine receptor alpha subunits have been identified, together with a single beta polypeptide. Each subunit consists of a large extracellular N-terminal region, four transmembrane domains, and a large cytoplasmic domain.

NCBI Description

glycine receptor strychnine binding subunit; generates glycine gated strychnine sensitive chloride current in the central nervous system [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Glycine receptors are ligand-gated chloride channels. Channel opening is triggered by extracellular glycine (PubMed:1716350, PubMed:11981023, PubMed:2483325, PubMed:3037383). Channel opening is also triggered by taurine and beta-alanine (PubMed:1716350). Channel characteristics depend on the subunit composition; heteropentameric channels are activated by lower glycine levels and display faster desensitization. Plays an important role in the down-regulation of neuronal excitability. Contributes to the generation of inhibitory postsynaptic currents. Channel activity is potentiated by ethanol (). Potentiation of channel activity by intoxicating levels ot ethanol contribute to the sedative effects of ethanol ().

Product Notes

The Glra1 glra1 (Catalog #AAA221817) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The RABBIT ANTI GLYCINE RECEPTOR ALPHA 1/2 (N-TERMINAL) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GLYCINE RECEPTOR ALPHA 1/2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Frozen, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 48 kDa in rat spinal cord lysates. Immunohistology - Frozen: Maximum Dilution: 1/1000 Western Blotting: Maximum Dilution: 1/1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Glra1 glra1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GLYCINE RECEPTOR ALPHA 1/2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
