Preparation and Storage
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the targetprotein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation andprecipitation were observed. The loss of this protein is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane receptor for group B coxsackieviruses and subgroup C adenoviruses. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 15, 18, and 21. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]

Uniprot Description

CXADR: a component of the epithelial apical junction complex that is essential for the tight junction integrity. Proposed to function as a homophilic cell adhesion molecule. Recruits MPDZ to intercellular contact sites. Probably involved in transepithelial migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) through adhesive interactions with AMICA1 located in the plasma membrane of PMN.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell adhesion; Receptor, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 21q21.1

Cellular Component: extracellular space; neuron projection; protein complex; tight junction; basolateral plasma membrane; integral to plasma membrane; apicolateral plasma membrane; extracellular region; acrosome; intercellular junction; lipid raft; nucleoplasm; adherens junction; growth cone; plasma membrane; cell junction; neuromuscular junction; filopodium

Molecular Function: viral receptor activity; integrin binding; identical protein binding; protein binding; beta-catenin binding; cell adhesion molecule binding; PDZ domain binding; receptor binding

Biological Process: intercellular junction assembly and maintenance; mitochondrion organization and biogenesis; neutrophil chemotaxis; entry of virus into host cell; regulation of immune response; heart development; gamma-delta T cell activation; heterophilic cell adhesion; cardiac muscle fiber development; germ cell migration; homotypic cell-cell adhesion; actin cytoskeleton reorganization; blood coagulation; leukocyte migration; defense response to virus

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Coxsackie Virus And Adenovirus Receptor, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
