Preparation and Storage
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the targetprotein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation andprecipitation were observed. The loss of this protein is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a WD-repeat protein that binds the cytoplasmic sphingomyelinase activation domain of the 55kD tumor necrosis factor receptor. This protein is required for TNF-mediated activation of neutral sphingomyelinase and may play a role in regulating TNF-induced cellular responses such as inflammation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009]

Uniprot Description

NSMAF: Couples the p55 TNF-receptor (TNF-R55 / TNFR1) to neutral sphingomyelinase (N-SMASE). Specifically binds to the N- smase activation domain of TNF-R55. May regulate ceramide production by N-SMASE. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Autophagy; Adaptor/scaffold

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q12-q13

Cellular Component: extrinsic to membrane; cytoplasm; endomembrane system

Molecular Function: sphingomyelin phosphodiesterase activator activity; protein binding; receptor signaling protein activity; phospholipid binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of catalytic activity; positive regulation of apoptosis; ceramide metabolic process; signal transduction; endosome transport

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Neutral Sphingomyelinase Activation Associated Factor, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
