NCBI Description

KIF18A is a member of the kinesin superfamily of microtubule-associated molecular motors (see MIM 148760) that use hydrolysis of ATP to produce force and movement along microtubules (Luboshits and Benayahu, 2005 [PubMed 15878648]).[supplied by OMIM, Aug 2008]

Uniprot Description

KIF18A: Microtubule-depolymerizing kinesin which plays a role in chromosome congression by reducing the amplitude of preanaphase oscillations and slowing poleward movement during anaphase, thus suppressing chromosome movements. May stabilize the CENPE-BUB1B complex at the kinetochores during early mitosis and maintains CENPE levels at kinetochores during chromosome congression. Belongs to the kinesin-like protein family.

Protein type: Microtubule-binding; Motor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11p14.1

Cellular Component: caveola; cytoplasm; cytosol; kinesin complex; kinetochore; kinetochore microtubule; microtubule cytoskeleton; microtubule organizing center; mitotic spindle midzone; nucleus; ruffle

Molecular Function: actin binding; ATP binding; ATP-dependent microtubule motor activity, plus-end-directed; microtubule binding; microtubule plus-end binding; protein binding

Biological Process: antigen processing and presentation of exogenous peptide antigen via MHC class II; cellular response to estradiol stimulus; male meiotic nuclear division; microtubule depolymerization; microtubule-based movement; mitotic metaphase plate congression; protein transport; retrograde vesicle-mediated transport, Golgi to ER; seminiferous tubule development; sister chromatid cohesion

Product Notes

The KIF18A kif18a (Catalog #AAA2027414) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Kinesin Family, Member 18A (KIF18A) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Kinesin Family can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 0.5-2ug/ml Immunocytochemistry in formalin fixed cells: 5-20ug/ml Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 5-20ug/ml Immunohistochemistry in paraffin section: 5-20ug/ml Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 0.05-2ug/ml Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KIF18A kif18a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Kinesin Family, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
