NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the epsin protein family. The encoded protein binds clathrin and is involved in the endocytosis of clathrin-coated vesicles. Loss of function of this gene is associated with reduced tumor growth and progression in certain cancer types. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]

Uniprot Description

epsin 1: Binds to membranes enriched in phosphatidylinositol 4,5- bisphosphate (PtdIns(4,5)P2). Modifies membrane curvature and facilitates the formation of clathrin-coated invaginations. Regulates receptor-mediated endocytosis. Belongs to the epsin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Vesicle

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.42

Cellular Component: clathrin-coated pit; cytosol; nucleus; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: lipid binding; protein binding

Biological Process: embryonic organ development; endocytosis; female pregnancy; in utero embryonic development; negative regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathway; Notch signaling pathway

Product Notes

The EPN1 epn1 (Catalog #AAA2026994) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Epsin 1 (EPN1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Epsin 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 0.2-2ug/mL;1:250-2500 Immunohistochemistry: 5-20ug/mL;1:25-100 Immunocytochemistry: 5-20ug/mL;1:25-100 Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. . Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EPN1 epn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epsin 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
