NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme which exists in cytoplasmic and inner-membrane mitochondrial forms, GOT1 and GOT2, respectively. GOT plays a role in amino acid metabolism and the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles. The two enzymes are homodimeric and show close homology. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013]
Uniprot Description
GOT2: Catalyzes the irreversible transamination of the L- tryptophan metabolite L-kynurenine to form kynurenic acid (KA). Plays a key role in amino acid metabolism. Important for metabolite exchange between mitochondria and cytosol. Facilitates cellular uptake of long-chain free fatty acids. Belongs to the class-I pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase family.

The AST2 got2 (Catalog #AAA2015969) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The FITC-linked Antibody to Aspartate Aminotransferase 2 (AST2) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Aspartate Aminotransferase 2 (AST2) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB). Western blotting: 1:100-400 Immunocytochemistry in formalin fixed cells: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry in paraffin section: 1:50-200 Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 1:100-200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AST2 got2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aspartate Aminotransferase 2 (AST2), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
