Immunocytochemistry (ICC)/Immunofluorescence (IF) (ICC/IF analysis of BHMT in Hep3B cells. The cell was stained at GA0584 at 2-5ug for 1x10^6cells (red). A Goat anti mouse IgG (Alexa fluor 488) was used as the secondary antibody. Mouse monoclonal IgG was used as the isotype control (dark gray), cells without incubation with primary and secondary antibody was used as the negative control (light gray).)

Related Product Information for anti-BHMT antibody
Betaine homocysteine methyltransferase (BHMT), a cytosolic enzyme, and its partial fragments were discovered as autolysosomal membrane proteins from rat liver in the presence of leupeptin. BHMT was also found in human liver. BHMT transfers a methyl group from betaine to homocysteine to form DMG (dimethylglycine) and Met. In vivo, liver BHMT expression is influenced by dietary changes in sulphur amino acids, choline and betaine.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine, respectively. Defects in this gene could lead to hyperhomocyst(e)inemia, but such a defect has not yet been observed. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

BHMT: Involved in the regulation of homocysteine metabolism. Converts betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine, respectively. This reaction is also required for the irreversible oxidation of choline.

Product Notes

The BHMT bhmt (Catalog #AAA201226) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BHMT reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BHMT can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). The antibody has been tested by ELISA, Western blot, ICC/IF and FACS analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BHMT bhmt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BHMT, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
