NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
COMMD1 is a regulator of copper homeostasis, sodium uptake, and NF-kappa-B (see MIM 164011) signaling (de Bie et al., 2005 [PubMed 16267171]).[supplied by OMIM, Sep 2009]
Uniprot Description
COMMD1: Promotes ubiquitination of NF-kappa-B subunit RELA and its subsequent proteasomal degradation. Down-regulates NF-kappa-B activity. Down-regulates SOD1 activity by interfering with its homodimerization. Plays a role in copper ion homeostasis. Can bind one copper ion per monomer. May function to facilitate biliary copper excretion within hepatocytes.
Protein type: Inhibitor
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p15
Cellular Component: Cul2-RING ubiquitin ligase complex; nucleoplasm; recycling endosome; cytoplasm; early endosome; cytoplasmic membrane-bound vesicle; endosome membrane; nucleus
Molecular Function: identical protein binding; phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate binding; protein binding; copper ion binding; protein homodimerization activity; phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-triphosphate binding; phosphatidylinositol-3,4-bisphosphate binding
Biological Process: Golgi to plasma membrane transport; protein transport; transcription, DNA-dependent; positive regulation of protein ubiquitination; inhibition of NF-kappaB transcription factor; regulation of proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process; plasma membrane to endosome transport; copper ion homeostasis

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "COMMD1, cDNA Clone" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
