Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Cofilin-1(CFL1) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human;Mouse;Rat.

Background: Cofilin, a member of the ADF/cofilin family, is actually a protein with 70% sequence homology to ADF, making it part of the ADF/cofilin family of small ADP-binding proteins. It is a ubiquitous actin-binding factor required for the reorganization of actin filaments. The protein is known to sever actin filaments by creating more positive ends on filament fragments, it can cause depolymerization at the minus end of filaments, thereby preventing their reassembly. As a long-lasting in vivo effect, cofilin recycles older ADP-F-actin, helping cell to maintain ATP-G-actin pool for sustained motility. pH, phosphorylation and phosphoinositides regulate cofilin's binding and associating activity with actin.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene can polymerize and depolymerize F-actin and G-actin in a pH-dependent manner. Increased phosphorylation of this protein by LIM kinase aids in Rho-induced reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton. Cofilin is a widely distributed intracellular actin-modulating protein that binds and depolymerizes filamentous F-actin and inhibits the polymerization of monomeric G-actin in a pH-dependent manner. It is involved in the translocation of actin-cofilin complex from cytoplasm to nucleus.[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2004]

Uniprot Description

Cofilin-1: a cytoskeletal protein that controls actin depolymerization. Has a 5-10-fold higher affinity for ATP-actin monomers than cofilin-1. May promote filament assembly rather than disassembly. Two alternatively spliced variants are described. Isoform b is expressed predominantly in skeletal muscle and heart, while isoform a is expressed in various tissues.

Product Notes

The CFL1 cfl1 (Catalog #AAA178124) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Cofilin Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Cofilin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Western Blot Concentration: 0.1-0.5ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin Concentration: 0.5-1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CFL1 cfl1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cofilin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
