Related Product Information for anti-HRK antibody
Hrk Antibody: Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Hrk, a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 homology domain-3 (BH3)-only group of the Bcl-2 family of proteins, was also identified as novel protein induced during programmed neuronal death. It lacks significant homology to other Bcl-2 family members except for an 8-amino acid region that is similar to the BH3 motif of Bik. Hrk regulates apoptosis through interaction with the anti-apoptotic proteins Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL via this domain. It does not interact with the pro-apoptotic proteins Bax, Bak, or Bcl-XS. Hrk localizes to mitochondrial membranes in a pattern similar to that previously reported for Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the BCL-2 protein family. Members of this family are involved in activating or inhibiting apoptosis. The encoded protein localizes to intracellular membranes. This protein promotes apoptosis by interacting with the apoptotic inhibitors BCL-2 and BCL-X(L) via its BH3 domain. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2012]

Uniprot Description

HRK: Promotes apoptosis.

Product Notes

The HRK hrk (Catalog #AAA151175) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Hrk Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Hrk can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Hrk antibody can be used for the detection of Hrk by Western blot at 2.5 - 5 mug/mL. Despite its predicted molecular weight, Hrk often migrates at 12-15 kDa. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HRK hrk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Hrk, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
