Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized TGFA although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution TGFA should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for TGFA active protein
Introduction: Transforming Growth Factor-Alpha (TGF-alpha) belongs to the EGF family of cytokines. TGFA soluble form is discharged from the membrane by proteolytic cleavage. Membrane-bound proTGF-alpha is biologically active and has a role in cell-cell adhesion or in the stimulation of adjacent cells. TGFA expression is common in transformed cells. Additionally, TGFA is expressed in normal tissues during embryogenesis and in adult cells/tissues, including the pituitary, keratinocytes, and macrophages.

Description: TGFA Human Recombinant (40-89) produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 50 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 6kDa.The TGFA is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Uniprot Description

TGFalpha: TGF alpha is a mitogenic polypeptide that is able to bind to the EGF receptor/EGFR and to act synergistically with TGF beta to promote anchorage-independent cell proliferation in soft agar. Interacts with the PDZ domains of MAGI3, SDCBP and SNTA1. The interaction with SDCBP, is required for the targeting to the cell surface. In the endoplasmic reticulum, in its immature form (i.e. with a prosegment and lacking full N-glycosylation), interacts with CNIH. In the Golgi apparatus, may form a complex with CNIH and GORASP2. Interacts (via cytoplasmic C-terminal domain) with NKD2. Isoform 1, isoform 3 and isoform 4 are expressed in keratinocytes and tumor-derived cell lines. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell cycle regulation; Ligand, receptor tyrosine kinase; Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p13

Cellular Component: basolateral plasma membrane; cell surface; cytoplasmic vesicle; endoplasmic reticulum membrane; ER-Golgi intermediate compartment membrane; extracellular space; integral to plasma membrane; perinuclear region of cytoplasm

Molecular Function: epidermal growth factor receptor binding; growth factor activity; protein binding

Biological Process: activation of MAPK activity; cell proliferation; COPII coating of Golgi vesicle; ER to Golgi vesicle-mediated transport; positive regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor activity; positive regulation of epithelial cell proliferation; positive regulation of mitosis

Product Notes

The TGFA tgfa (Catalog #AAA140971) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: VVSHFNDCPD SHTQFCFHGT CRFLVQEDKP ACVCHSGYVG ARCEHADLLA.. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Transforming Growth Factor-Alpha, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
