NCBI Description

bglA, bglB and ascB are paralogs. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG13079]. BglA is one of several 6-phospho--glucosidases in Escherichia coli. [More information is available at EcoCyc: G495].

Uniprot Description

Catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphorylated beta-glucosides into glucose-6-phosphate (G-6-P) and aglycone. It has a high affinity for phosphorylated aromatic beta-glucosides (p-nitrophenyl-beta-glucoside, phenyl beta-glucoside, arbutin), with the exception of phosphorylated salicin, and a low affinity for phosphorylated beta-methyl-glucoside. Apparently, it has only a very limited role in the utilization of external beta-glucosides.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "6-phospho-beta-glucosidase BglA (bglA), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
