Uniprot Description

Function: Inhibits several subtypes of voltage-gated sodium channels (Nav1.1/SCN1A, Nav1.2/SCN2A, Nav1.4/SCN4A, Nav1.5/SCN5A, and Nav1.8/SCN10A) by shifting the voltage dependence of channel activation to more depolarized potentials and by blocking the inward component of the sodium current. Is significantly more potent against Nav1.2/SCN2A than the other Nav channel subtypes. Ref.1

Subunit structure: Monomer

By similarity. UniProtKB P83471

Subcellular location: Secreted Ref.1.

Tissue specificity: Expressed by the venom gland. Ref.1

Domain: The presence of a 'disulfide through disulfide knot' structurally defines this protein as a knottin

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the huwentoxin-1 family.

Mass spectrometry: Molecular mass is 4041.79 Da from positions 1 - 33. Determined by MALDI. Ref.1

Product Notes

The Beta-theraphotoxin-Cm1a beta-trtx-cm1a (Catalog #AAA1231065) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli or Yeast or Baculovirus or Mammalian Cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-33aa; Cytoplasmic domain. The amino acid sequence is listed below: DCLGWFKSCD PKNDKCCKNY TCSRRDRWCK YDL. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Beta-theraphotoxin-Cm1a, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
