Envelope glycoprotein E (gE) Recombinant Protein | gE recombinant protein
Recombinant Varicella-zoster virus Envelope glycoprotein E (gE), partial
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
Envelope glycoprotein that binds to the potential host cell entry receptor IDE.In epithelial cells, the heterodimer gE/gI is required for the cell-to-cell spread of the virus, by sorting nascent virions to cell junctions. Once the virus reaches the cell junctions, virus particles can spread to adjacent cells extremely rapidly through interactions with cellular receptors that accumulate at these junctions. Implicated in basolateral spread in polarized cells. In neuronal cells, gE/gI is essential for the anterograde spread of the infection throughout the host nervous system. Together with US9, the heterodimer gE/gI is involved in the sorting and transport of viral structural components toward axon tips ().

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Envelope glycoprotein E (gE), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
