NCBI Description

Activated by maltotriose and ATP to form active oligomers. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG10562]. The malT gene is located upstream of and in the opposite direction of the operon malPQ . [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG10562].

Uniprot Description

Positively regulates the transcription of the maltose regulon whose gene products are responsible for uptake and catabolism of malto-oligosaccharides. Binds and recognizes a DNA motif (called the malT box): 5'-GGA[TG]GA-3'.MiscellaneousA study on malT mutants (PubMed:12003949) has shown that some of them became nearly completely resistant to Aes repression while still being sensitive to MalY. These mutations are located at positions 38, 220, 243, and 359, most likely defining the interaction patch with aes on the three-dimensional structure of MalT.

Product Notes

The malT malt (Catalog #AAA1120809) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli or Yeast or Baculovirus or Mammalian Cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HTH-type transcriptional regulator malT (malT), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
