Related Product Information for VBP1 recombinant protein
Von Hippel-Lindau disease(VHL) is a dominant inherited syndrome characterized by the predisposition to develop various kinds of benign and malignant tumors, including clear cell renal carcinomas, pheochromocytomas and hemangioblastomas of the central nervous system and retina. VHL syndrome is caused by germline mutation in the VHL tumor suppressor, and VHL tumors are associated with loss or mutation of the remaining wild-type allele. VHL has two domains: a roughly 100-residue NH2-terminal domain rich in beta sheet(beta-domain) and a smaller alpha-helical domain (alpha-domain), held together by two linkers and a polar interface. VHL protein is also involved in the degradation of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF).

Recombinant Human VHL beta-domian is a single,non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 174aa and has a molecular mass of 19.2kD.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene interacts with the Von Hippel-Lindau protein to form an intracellular complex. Because it functions as a chaperone protein, it is suspected that it may play a role in the transport of the Von Hippel-Lindau protein from the perinuclear granules to the nucleus or cytoplasm. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

VBP1: Binds specifically to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN) and transfers target proteins to it. Binds to nascent polypeptide chain and promotes folding in an environment in which there are many competing pathways for nonnative proteins. Belongs to the prefoldin subunit alpha family.

Protein type: Chaperone

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xq28

Cellular Component: intracellular membrane-bound organelle; cytoplasm; prefoldin complex; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: 'de novo' posttranslational protein folding; cellular protein metabolic process; protein folding

Product Notes

The VBP1 vbp1 (Catalog #AAA638241) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MPRRAENWDE AEVGAEEAGV EEYGPEEDGG EESGAEESGP EESGPEELGA EEEMEAGRPR PVLRSVNSRE PSQVIFCNRS PRVVLPVWLN FDGEPQPYPT LPPGTGRRIH SYRGHLWLFR DAGTHDGLLV NQTELFVPSL NVDGQPIFAN ITLP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Von Hippel-Lindau Protein, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
