Related Product Information for UBA5 recombinant protein
Description: UBA5 Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 428 amino acids (1-404) and having a molecular mass of 47.4kDa.UBA5 is fused to a 24 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: Ubiquitin-like modifier activating enzyme 5 (UBA5) is a member of the ubiquitin-activating E1 family and UBA5 subfamily. Ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins are recognized as covalently conjugated to various cellular substrates by a three-step enzymatic pathway. The ubiquitin-activating enzyme (E1) has a vital role in the first step of ubiquitination pathway to activate ubiquitin or ubiquitin-like proteins. UBA5 activates an ubiquitin-like protein, ubiquitin-fold modifier 1 (Ufm1), by forming a high-energy thioester bond. UBA5 is located primarily in cytoplasm, while it generally localizes to the nucleus in presence of SUMO2.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the E1-like ubiquitin-activating enzyme family. This protein activates ubiquitin-fold modifier 1, a ubiquitin-like post-translational modifier protein, via the formation of a high-energy thioester bond. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. A pseudogene located on chromosome 1 has also been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

UBE1DC1: E1-like enzyme which activates UFM1 and SUMO2. Belongs to the ubiquitin-activating E1 family. UBA5 subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Autophagy; Ubiquitin conjugating system

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q22.1

Cellular Component: intracellular membrane-bound organelle; cytoplasm; cytosol; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; metal ion binding; ATP binding

Biological Process: regulation of estrogen receptor signaling pathway

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Ubiquitin-Like Modifier Activating Enzyme 5, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
