NCBI Description

This gene encodes a beta tubulin protein. This protein forms a dimer with alpha tubulin and acts as a structural component of microtubules. Mutations in this gene cause cortical dysplasia, complex, with other brain malformations 6. Alternative splicing results in multiple splice variants. There are multiple pseudogenes for this gene on chromosomes 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 13. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2014]

Uniprot Description

TUBB: Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules. It binds two moles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha-chain. Dimer of alpha and beta chains. May interact with RNABP10. Interacts with PIFO/C1orf88. Ubiquitously expressed with highest levels in spleen, thymus and immature brain. Belongs to the tubulin family.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Product Notes

The Human TUBB tubb (Catalog #AAA2882688) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2882688 ELISA Kit recognizes Human TUBB. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Tubulin beta chain, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
