Related Product Information for TALLA-1 / TSPAN7 recombinant protein
Background: TALLA-1, also known as TSPAN7, is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily Most members of this family are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. TALLA-1 gene is associated with X-linked mental retardation and neuropsychiatric diseases such as Huntington's chorea, fragile X syndrome and myotonic dystrophy. TALLA-1 is a cell surface glycoprotein and may have a role in the control of neurite outgrowth. It is known to complex with integrins.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the mouse TSPAN7 (Q62283) (Arg113-Met213) was expressed with a C-terminal polyhistidine tag.

Uniprot Description

TSPAN7: a multi-pass membrane protein. Member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. These proteins apparently mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. Defects in TSPAN7 are the cause of mental retardation X- linked type 58 (MRX58). Mental retardation is characterized by significantly sub-average general intellectual functioning associated with impairments in adaptative behavior and manifested during the developmental period. Non-syndromic mental retardation patients do not manifest other clinical signs.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: X|X A1.1

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane

Biological Process: cell surface receptor linked signal transduction

Product Notes

The TALLA-1 / TSPAN7 tspan7 (Catalog #AAA2546755) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant mouse TSPAN7 comprises 112 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 13 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 23-29 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions due to glycosylation. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TALLA-1 / TSPAN7 tspan7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TALLA-1 / TSPAN7, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
