Related Product Information for TGM2 recombinant protein
Background: Protein-glutamine gamma-glutamyltransferase 2, also known as Tissue transglutaminase, Transglutaminase C, Transglutaminase-2, and TGM2, is a member of the transglutaminase superfamily. TGM2 plays a role in cell growth and survival through the anti-apoptosis signaling pathway. It is a calcium-dependent acyltransferase that also undergoes a GTP-binding/GTPase cycle even though it lacks any obvious sequence similarity with canonical GTP-binding (G) proteins. TGM2 is a multi-functional protein which catalyzes transamidation reactions or acts as a G-protein in intracellular signalling. As an enzyme which is responsible for the majority of transglutaminase (TG) activity in the brain, TGM2 is likely to play a modulatory role in nervous system development and has regulatory effect on neuronal cell death as well. Most importantly, numerous studies have presented data demonstrating that dysregulation of TGM2 may contribute to the pathogenesis of many neurodegenerative disorders, including Huntington's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis as well as nervous system injuries.

NCBI Description

Transglutaminases are enzymes that catalyze the crosslinking of proteins by epsilon-gamma glutamyl lysine isopeptide bonds. While the primary structure of transglutaminases is not conserved, they all have the same amino acid sequence at their active sites and their activity is calcium-dependent. The protein encoded by this gene acts as a monomer, is induced by retinoic acid, and appears to be involved in apoptosis. Finally, the encoded protein is the autoantigen implicated in celiac disease. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TGM2: an enzyme of the transglutaminase family that catalyzes the crosslinking of proteins and the conjugation of polyamines to proteins. While the primary structure of transglutaminases is not conserved, they all have the same amino acid sequence at their active sites and their activity is calcium-dependent. The protein encoded by this gene acts as a monomer, is induced by retinoic acid, and appears to be involved in apoptosis. . Is the autoantigen in coeliac disease and plays a role in apoptosis, cellular differentiation and matrix stabilisation. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The TGM2 tgm2 (Catalog #AAA8120683) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Baculovirus-Insect Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Met1-Ala68 7. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Transglutaminase 2/TGM2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
