Related Product Information for TDO2 recombinant protein
TDO2, also known as TDO, is a ferrous heme enzyme that catalyzes the first and rate-limiting step in the kynurenine pathway, the major pathway of tryptophan metabolism. It incorporates oxygen into the indole moiety of tryptophan. It has a broad specificity towards tryptamine and derivatives including D- and L-tryptophan, 5-hydroxytryptophan and serotonin.

Recombinant protein corresponding to human TDO2, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, expressed in E. coli.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a heme enzyme that plays a critical role in tryptophan metabolism by catalyzing the first and rate-limiting step of the kynurenine pathway. Increased activity of the encoded protein and subsequent kynurenine production may also play a role in cancer through the suppression of antitumor immune responses, and single nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene may be associated with autism. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]

Uniprot Description

TDO2: Incorporates oxygen into the indole moiety of tryptophan. Has a broad specificity towards tryptamine and derivatives including D- and L-tryptophan, 5-hydroxytryptophan and serotonin. Belongs to the tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase family.

Product Notes

The TDO2 tdo2 (Catalog #AAA636348) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Tryptophan 2,3-Dioxygenase, aa1-406, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
