NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the diacylglycerol acyltransferase family. It esterifies long chain (wax) alcohols with acyl-CoA-derived fatty acids to produce wax esters. Wax esters are enriched in sebum, suggesting that this enzyme plays a central role in lipid metabolism in skin. Consistent with this observation, this protein is predominantly expressed in the sebaceous gland of the skin. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Uniprot Description

DGAT2L3: Acyltransferase that predominantly esterify long chain (wax) alcohols with acyl-CoA-derived fatty acids to produce wax esters. Wax esters are enriched in sebum, suggesting that it plays a central role in lipid metabolism in skin. Has a preference for arachidyl alcohol as well as decyl alcohol, demonstrating its relatively poor activity using saturated long chain alcohols (C16, C18, and C20). Belongs to the diacylglycerol acyltransferase family.

Product Notes

The AWAT1 awat1 (Catalog #AAA8214670) is a Blocking Peptide produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DGAT2L3 Blocking Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DGAT2L3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AWAT1 awat1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DGAT2L3, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
