Uniprot Description

Function: Palmitoyltransferase that targets several endosomal SNAREs. Palmitoylates the SNAREs SNC1, SNC2, SYN8 and TLG1, at cysteine residues close to the cytoplasmic end of their transmembrane domain. May have a role in the cellular quality control of transmembrane domain-containing proteins. Ref.4

Catalytic activity: Palmitoyl-CoA + protein-cysteine = S-palmitoyl protein + CoA.

Subcellular location: Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Ref.4.

Domain: The DHHC domain is required for palmitoyltransferase activity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the DHHC palmitoyltransferase family. SWF1 subfamily.Contains 1 DHHC-type zinc finger.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Palmitoyltransferase SWF1 (SWF1), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
