Porcine Steroidogenic acute regulatory protein ELISA Kit
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene plays a key role in the acute regulation of steroid hormone synthesis by enhancing the conversion of cholesterol into pregnenolone. This protein permits the cleavage of cholesterol into pregnenolone by mediating the transport of cholesterol from the outer mitochondrial membrane to the inner mitochondrial membrane. Mutations in this gene are a cause of congenital lipoid adrenal hyperplasia (CLAH), also called lipoid CAH. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
STAR: Plays a key role in steroid hormone synthesis by enhancing the metabolism of cholesterol into pregnenolone. Mediates the transfer of cholesterol from the outer mitochondrial membrane to the inner mitochondrial membrane where it is cleaved to pregnenolone. May interact with TSPO. Expressed in gonads, adrenal cortex and kidney.

Product Notes
The Porcine StAR star (Catalog #AAA746861) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA746861 ELISA Kit recognizes Porcine StAR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Steroidogenic acute regulatory protein, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
