Short Description: Recombinant SMYD5 (accession number NP_006053.2) was expressed in Sf9 cells and contains an N-terminal DYKDDDDK tag with an observed molecular weight of 49 kDa. SET and MYND domain-containing protein 5 (SMYD5) is a member of the Smyd family of histone methyltransferases. SMYD5 has been reported to mediate methylation of H4K20 and may methylate non-histone substrates as well. Recombinant SMYD5 can be used to study enzyme kinetics and perform inhibitor screening assays.
