The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the src family kinases. This protein is similar to the src kinase associated phosphoprotein 1. It is an adaptor protein that is thought to play an essential role in the src signaling pathway in various cells. It inhibits PTK2B/RAFTK activity and regulates alpha-synuclein phosphorylation. Uniprot Description
RA70: an ubiquitous adapter protein thought to play a role in the src signaling pathway. Contains a coiled-coil domain, a pleckstrin homology domain, and a SH3 domain. The SH3 domain binds to the proline-rich domain of Pyk2, inhibiting alpha-synuclein tyrosine phosphorylation. Can be phosphorylated by Src family kinases but not by Pyk2. Functions as a downstream target for Pyk2 and plays a role in alpha-synuclein phosphorylation. Negatively regulates alpha-synuclein phosphorylation following cell stress.
