Related Product Information for SIGLEC6 / CD327 recombinant protein
Background: SIGLEC6, also known as CD327, belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily, SIGLEC (sialic acid binding Ig-like lectin) family. SIGLEC6 is a sialic acid recognizing protein expressed at high levels in placenta (cyto- and syncytiotrophoblastic cells) and at lower levels in spleen, peripheral blood leukocytes (predominantly B-cells) and small intestine. SIGLEC6 localizes in various compartments such as membrane fraction, extracellular region and so on. SIGLEC6 may show increasing expression human labor and following childbirth, it has been speculated that this expression helps to slow the tempo of human labor.  Interestingly, expression of SIGLEC6 is further upregulated in pre-eclampsia, which appears to be a uniquely human disease.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human SIGLEC6 (O43699-3) (Gln27-Val331) was expressed with the Fc region of human IgG1 at the C-terminus.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the SIGLEC (sialic acid binding immunoglobulin-like lectin) family of proteins. The encoded transmembrane receptor binds sialyl-TN glycans and leptin. Placental expression of the encoded protein is upregulated in preeclampsia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]

Uniprot Description

SIGLEC6: Putative adhesion molecule that mediates sialic-acid dependent binding to cells. Binds to alpha-2,6-linked sialic acid. The sialic acid recognition site may be masked by cis interactions with sialic acids on the same cell surface. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. SIGLEC (sialic acid binding Ig-like lectin) family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The SIGLEC6 / CD327 siglec6 (Catalog #AAA2545536) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human SIGLEC6/Fc is a disulfide-linked homodimer. The reduced monomer comprises 546 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 60.7 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 66-73 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SIGLEC6 / CD327 siglec6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SIGLEC6 / CD327, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
