Related Product Information for gamma-ECS elisa kit
Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Sheep gamma-ECS concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to gamma-ECS. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for gamma-ECS and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain gamma-ECS, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of gamma-ECS. You can calculate the concentration of gamma-ECS in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

Glutamate-cysteine ligase, also known as gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase is the first rate-limiting enzyme of glutathione synthesis. The enzyme consists of two subunits, a heavy catalytic subunit and a light regulatory subunit. This locus encodes the catalytic subunit, while the regulatory subunit is derived from a different gene located on chromosome 1p22-p21. Mutations at this locus have been associated with hemolytic anemia due to deficiency of gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase and susceptibility to myocardial infarction.[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2010]

Uniprot Description

GCLC: Defects in GCLC are the cause of hemolytic anemia (HAGGSD). Belongs to the glutamate--cysteine ligase type 3 family.

Product Notes

The Sheep gamma-ECS gclc (Catalog #AAA2500367) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2500367 ELISA Kit recognizes Sheep gamma-ECS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "gamma-ECS, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
