Bovine Steroidogenic Factor 1 ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: SF1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-SF1 antibody and an SF1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with SF1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the SF1 concentration since SF1 from samples and SF1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-SF1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by SF1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind SF1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The SF1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a transcriptional activator involved in sex determination. The encoded protein binds DNA as a monomer. Defects in this gene are a cause of XY sex reversal with or without adrenal failure as well as adrenocortical insufficiency without ovarian defect. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
STF-1: a nuclear hormone receptor of the NR5 subfamily. Essential for sexual differentiation and formation of the primary steroidogenic tissues. Binds to the Ad4 site found in the promoter region of steroidogenic P-450 genes such as CYP11A, CYP11B and CYP21B. Also regulates the Muellerian inhibiting substance (AMH) gene as well as the AHCH and STAR genes.

Product Notes
The Bovine SF1 nr5a1 (Catalog #AAA744885) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA744885 ELISA Kit recognizes Bovine SF1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Steroidogenic Factor 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
