Principle of the Assay||This assay employs the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with goat-anti-rabbit antibody. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with an antibody specific for SERPINA6 and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated SERPINA6. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP labeled SERPINA6 and unlabeled SERPINA6 with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of SERPINA6 in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Uniprot Description

SERPINA6: Major transport protein for glucocorticoids and progestins in the blood of almost all vertebrate species. Defects in SERPINA6 are a cause of corticosteroid-binding globulin deficiency (CBG deficiency). CBG deficiency is an extremely rare hereditary disorder characterized by reduced corticosteroid-binding capacity with normal or low plasma corticosteroid-binding globulin concentration, and normal or low basal cortisol levels associated with hypo/hypertension and muscle fatigue. Belongs to the serpin family.
