Principle of the assay: Anti-RNP ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing RNP antigen and an Anti-RNP-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with Anti-RNP-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the Anti-RNP concentration since Anti-RNP from samples and Anti-RNP-HRP conjugate compete for the RNP antigen binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by Anti-RNP from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind Anti-RNP-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The Anti-RNP concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are RNA binding proteins and they complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and appear to influence pre-mRNA processing and other aspects of mRNA metabolism and transport. While all of the hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, some seem to shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The hnRNP proteins have distinct nucleic acid binding properties. The protein encoded by this gene has three repeats of quasi-RRM domains that bind to RNAs. This protein also constitutes a monomer of the N-acetylglucosamine-specific receptor which is postulated to trigger selective recycling of immature GlcNAc-bearing thyroglobulin molecules. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Uniprot Description

hnRNP M: Pre-mRNA binding protein in vivo, binds avidly to poly(G) and poly(U) RNA homopolymers in vitro. Involved in splicing. Acts as a receptor for carcinoembryonic antigen in Kupffer cells, may initiate a series of signaling events leading to tyrosine phosphorylation of proteins and induction of IL-1 alpha, IL-6, IL-10 and tumor necrosis factor alpha cytokines. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Rabbit RNP hnrnpm (Catalog #AAA725194) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA725194 ELISA Kit recognizes Rabbit RNP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Anti-Ribonucleoprotein Antibody, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
