Biological Significance
Relaxin-3 (H3 relaxin, Insulin-like peptide-7, INSL7) is a secreted protein structurally related to insulin, which is expressed primarily in the brain and central nervous system. Relaxin-3 has been identified as the ligand for the GPCR135 receptor, previously known as ?somatostatin-like? or ?angiotensin-like? peptide receptor, and also binds specifically to the LGR7 receptor, previously identified as an ?orphan? G protein coupled receptor. Signaling by Relaxin-3 through its target receptors is, most likely, part of a CNS processing system, activated in response to signaling by neuropeptides and other factors. Intracerebroventricular injections of Relaxin-3 have been shown to cause a significant increase of food intake and body weight in Wistar rats.
Endotoxin Levels
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per ug (1 EU/ug).

NCBI Description

Relaxins are known endocrine and autocrine/paracrine hormones, belonging to the insulin gene superfamily. In the human there are three non-allelic relaxin genes, RLN1, RLN2 and RLN3. RLN1 and RLN2 share high sequence homology. Relaxin is produced by the ovary, and targets the mammalian reproductive system to ripen the cervix, elongate the pubic symphysis and inhibit uterine contraction. It may have additional roles in enhancing sperm motility, regulating blood pressure, controlling heart rate and releasing oxytocin and vasopressin. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the relaxin family. The active form of the encoded protein consists of an A chain and a B chain but their cleavage sites are not definitely described yet. It may play a role in neuropeptide signaling processes. Uniprot Description

RLN3: May play a role in neuropeptide signaling processes. Ligand for LGR7, relaxin-3 receptor-1 (GPCR135) and relaxin-3 receptor-2 (GPCR142). Belongs to the insulin family.

Product Notes

The RLN3 rln3 (Catalog #AAA539391) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Relaxin 3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RLN3 rln3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Region of Relaxin 3 protein correspond ing to amino acids (A-chain): DVLAGLSSS CCKWGCSKSE ISSLC and (B-chain): RAAPYGVRL CGREFIRAVI FTCGGSRW. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Relaxin 3, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
