Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Recombinant human Resistin was lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered PBS solution.
Applicable Applications for RETN recombinant protein
Cell Assay
Species
Human
Endotoxin Level
<1.0EU/ug of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70 degree C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree -8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Related Product Information for RETN recombinant protein
Recombinant Human Resistin (RETN) was expressed in E Coli cells. The protein accession number is Q9HD89
Resistin was identified by screening for genes that are induced during the differentiation of adipocytes but down-regulated in mature adipocytes. Resistin gene expression is induced during the differentiation of adipocytes. Resistin circulates in mouse serum, and its level is increased markedly in obesity. Adipocytes secrete resistin as a unique signaling molecule that may be the hormone potentially linking obesity to type II diabetes, which is characterized by target-tissue resistance to insulin. TNF-alpha is a negative regulator of Resistin gene expression and inhibits Resistin mRNA expression and protein secretion by 70-90% in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to the family defined by the mouse resistin-like genes. The characteristic feature of this family is the C-terminal stretch of 10 cys residues with identical spacing. The mouse homolog of this protein is secreted by adipocytes, and may be the hormone potentially linking obesity to type II diabetes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

resistin: Hormone that seems to suppress insulin ability to stimulate glucose uptake into adipose cells. Potentially links obesity to diabetes. Belongs to the resistin/FIZZ family.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.2

Product Notes

The RETN retn (Catalog #AAA517566) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Resistin (RETN) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Cell Assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RETN retn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Resistin (RETN), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
