Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat Neuronal Nitric Oxide Synthase (also known as NOS1/nNOS) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat NOS1/nNOS antibody. NOS1/nNOS present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat NOS1/nNOS Antibody is added and binds to NOS1/nNOS in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated NOS1/nNOS antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat NOS1/nNOS. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the NF-kappa-B inhibitor family, which contain multiple ankrin repeat domains. The encoded protein interacts with REL dimers to inhibit NF-kappa-B/REL complexes which are involved in inflammatory responses. The encoded protein moves between the cytoplasm and the nucleus via a nuclear localization signal and CRM1-mediated nuclear export. Mutations in this gene have been found in ectodermal dysplasia anhidrotic with T-cell immunodeficiency autosomal dominant disease. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
