Rat glutamic acid decarboxylase Antibody (GAD-Ab) ELISA Kit
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. The enzyme encoded is responsible for catalyzing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. A pathogenic role for this enzyme has been identified in the human pancreas since it has been identified as an autoantibody and an autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes. This gene may also play a role in the stiff man syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]

Product Notes
The Rat GAD-Ab gad2 (Catalog #AAA267056) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA267056 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat GAD-Ab. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "glutamic acid decarboxylase Antibody (GAD-Ab), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
