Rat Follistatin (FS) ELISA Kit | FS elisa kit

Rat Follistatin (FS) ELISA Kit

Gene Names
FST; FS
Reactivity
Rat
Synonyms
Follistatin (FS); Rat Follistatin (FS) ELISA Kit; FS elisa kit
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Reactivity
Rat
Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of follistatin. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between follistatin and analogues was observed.
Sequence Length
317
Samples
Rat serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids
Detection Range
1.56-100ng/mL
Sensitivity
The minimum detectable dose of follistatin is typically less than 0.57ng/mL. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined by adding two standard deviations to the mean optical density value of twenty zero standard replicates and calculating the corresponding concentration.
Intra-assay Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level follistatin were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Intra-Assay: CV<10%
Inter-assay Precision
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level follistatin were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate. CV(%) = SD/meanX100. Inter-Assay: CV<12%
Intended Uses
The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of follistatin in rat serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids.
Preparation and Storage
For unopened kit, all the reagents should be kept according to the label on each vial. The Standard, Detection Reagent A, Detection Reagent B and the 96-well strip plate should be stored at -20 degree C while others should be at 4 degree C.

Principle of the assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to follistatin. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to follistatin. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain follistatin, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of follistatin in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

Follistatin is a single-chain gonadal protein that specifically inhibits follicle-stimulating hormone release. The single FST gene encodes two isoforms, FST317 and FST344 containing 317 and 344 amino acids respectively, resulting from alternative splicing of the precursor mRNA. In a study in which 37 candidate genes were tested for linkage and association with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hyperandrogenemia in 150 families, evidence was found for linkage between PCOS and follistatin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The Rat FS fst (Catalog #AAA2024780) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2024780 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat FS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Follistatin (FS), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
