Related Product Information for XRCC1 elisa kit
XRCC1 is a DNA repair protein.involved in the efficient repair of DNA single-strand breaks formed by exposure to ionizing radiation and alkylating agents. This protein interacts with DNA ligase III, polymerase beta and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase to participate in the base excision repair pathway. It may play a role in DNA processing during meiogenesis and recombination in germ cells. A rare microsatellite polymorphism in this gene is associated with cancer in patients of varying radiosensitivity.Inhibition of XRCC1 phosphorylation by mutation of the CK2 phosphorylation sites or by preventing CK2 activity using a highly specific inhibitor ablated the rapid repair of cellular DNA single-strand breaks by XRCC1. These data identified a direct role for CK2 in the repair of chromosome DNA strand breaks and in maintaining genetic integrity.

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate XRCC1 in samples. An antibody specific for XRCC1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyXRCC1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for XRCC1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of XRCC1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

plays a role in base-excision repair; displays decreased mRNA expression in early embryos treated with the anticancer alkylating agent cyclophosphamide [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

XRCC1: Corrects defective DNA strand-break repair and sister chromatid exchange following treatment with ionizing radiation and alkylating agents. Homodimer. Interacts with polynucleotide kinase (PNK), DNA polymerase-beta (POLB) and DNA ligase III (LIG3). Interacts with APTX and APLF. Interacts with APEX1; the interaction is induced by SIRT1 and increases with the acetylated form of APEX1.

Product Notes

The Rat XRCC1 xrcc1 (Catalog #AAA285175) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA285175 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat XRCC1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DNA repair protein XRCC1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
